Employee fraud cost UK employers £40m in one year

Accountancy firm RSM has reported that businesses lost more than £40m over the past year due to employee fraud. Using a freedom of information request, they found that employers had reported more than 800 incidences of frauds from inside their organisation. The employee frauds include falsifying claims for travel and subsistence, creating bogus customer records or stealing cash. The RSM data also shows that Greater London was the worst affected area with £7.1m in losses reported to the Metropolitan Police caused by 93 incidences of fraud.
