Employers show low confidence in HR readiness ahead of Employment Rights Act

A WorkNest survey has highlighted significant uncertainty about the legal robustness of workplace policies ahead of the forthcoming Employment Rights bill. Among 300 employers surveyed, only 16% reported feeling “very confident” that their HR processes would withstand an employment tribunal challenge, while a combined 82% expressed either limited or only moderate confidence. This sense of vulnerability and uncertainty is echoed among HR practitioners, four in 10 of whom identified “making a legal mistake” as their top concern, surpassing worries about recruitment, employee wellbeing, and workplace morale. The findings highlight the increasing pressure on employers to review policies and reinforce legal safeguards before new requirements come into force.
